Different quality in results between API and UX

Hello,

As stated, I am having difficulty retrieving useful information from the API feature. For instance, I asked the same prompt to perplexity Chat UI, and through an API prompt, and received the following responses:

Example 1

Question: Find Flogas UK Ltd's most recent revenue figure. Ensure it is the revenue figure of this company, not sales, profit, or any other metric. Ensure it is for this company specifically, not their group or parent company.

Output format: £Company Turnover (year of turnover) and (link to source). Do not use any other words in your response

UI response: £395.2m (March 2023) https://pomanda.com/company/00993638/flogas-britain-limited

API response: £315.3 million (year ending December 2021) [Source: Companies House and Flogas UK Ltd Annual Report and Accounts 2021: https://data.companieshouse.gov.uk/doc/company/02591011/annual-return/2022/lr-326218-pr.pdf]

Example 2

API Response: £315.3 million (year ending December 2021) [Source: Companies House and Flogas UK Ltd Annual Report and Accounts 2021: https://data.companieshouse.gov.uk/doc/company/02591011/annual-return/2022/lr-326218-pr.pdf]

Example 3

Find a list of IT partners and consultants that Flogas UK Ltd has used in the past, or currently uses. These can cover any area within the IT industry, such as managed services, architecture, implementation, integration, systems, tracking, telemetry, metering. For each consultant, state what they are offering Flogas UK Ltd, and any other relevant facts or details of their relationship to the company.

Output format:
Each consultant should be separated by paragraph.
sources are provided at the bottom in URL format.
Do not bullet point, number, or name paragraphs.
Do not limit the amount of responses based on word count, use an exhaustive list for all that are relevant

UI Response: Flogas UK Ltd has engaged with various IT partners and consultants to enhance its IT infrastructure and services. Here are some of the key collaborations:

As seen in examples 1 and 2, the API, when asked the exact same question, produces out of date results, and fewer sources. In example 3, it produced results based entirely on conjecture, and suggested companies that 'may' be relevant, without providing proof, similar to ChatGPT. In all of these instances, the UI Response was completely correct, so why is this not the case for the API, and how can I fix this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, many thanks.
